Whatsapp is not just used to send messages and maintain friendships. Users of PT PAM Lyonnaise Jaya’s (Palyja) water services also make use of this app to read their water meter.

The feature was recognized on Nov. 22 with an award from Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan. The award was accepted by Palyja’s director of customer service operations, Nancy Manurung, in Jakarta.

Palyja was also awarded in May as part of the Top 99 Public Service Innovators 2017 by Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Asman Abnur.

Palyja’s innovation was chosen during a public innovation competition that featured more than 3,600 participants. The government award was an important form of recognition for Palyja as representatives for PAM Jaya and Jakarta.

Lydia Astriningworo, CCSR division head at Palyja, said that in addition to reflecting the efforts of the entire company for constantly innovating, the award also represented the company’s commitment to improving its work performance.
